Business:

2. The July 19 a nd August 16 club me eting s will be hel d at J J ' s while Joe V is out of town.
3. We discussed the mass mailing to local hams. Paul will finalize the message for the card. Wayne will get a quote from Vistago Printing for 60 copies. The plan is to send the cards out a week or so to all hams in the 78645 zip code before our September 20 meeting.
4. Wayne reported $504.22 in the club bank account.

1. The weekly Wednesday net was discussed and is to be shifted to Thursday at 6 pm using the club simplex frequency, 146.580 MHz.
2. Paul demonstrated DMR radio.Digital Mobile Radio - requires a ham license and an ID number.DMR digitizes and compresses voice to send using 4FSK modulation on a radio.DMR has advantages of using less spectrum than regular voice. For equipment, Paul had his 2m "DMR U/V" HT, a custom hotspot that receives the signal from the radio and puts it out on the internet. He used his cell phone as the internet connection.After explaining the formation of various groups, he made a contact with a ham in Minnesota for a short QSO.
3. We discussed the mass mailing to local hams and agreed that Paul's latest version is fine with the addition of the new time for our weekly net on Thursday's at 6pm.

Robert reported club funds were $375.22
Annual dues of $25 were collected and financial records were transferred from Robert to Wayne.
Business:
1. Paul described APRS - Auto Packet Reporting System and a little about DMR radio.
2. The weekly Wednesday net was discussed and is to be continued at 9pm every Wednesday using the club simplex frequency, 146.580. The airport repeater seems to be busy around that time with digital traffic.
3. We discussed about inviting the 60 hams in the area to our club meetings. Joe has address labels printed. Paul has a post card set up to send out, but it needs a message. It was decided that each club member would write out a message for the invitation and email it to the group. If we can get it ready, the invitation cards could be sent out in advance of the May meeting. We would need to have an agenda and activity or discussion prepared for the meeting so it would be more than just some old hams reminiscing.

2. The topic of grant money for our club was again discussed. Wayne mentioned that he has not had opportunity to speak to City of Lago Vista regarding application for city grant money. Marvin Smith mentioned that the ARRL has grant money for clubs. However, deadline is July 26th. Perhaps we can try for next year's grant money.
3. Club dues have been resumed. Since this is half the year, present dues are $12.50.
4. Brief discussion for club logo was had. Members were urged to bring in their ideas (again)
for discussion. Wayne's logo will be submitted again.
5. It was mentioned from Club Secretary that our club may be nearing time for renewing club officers. Wayne to look into our constitution to verify this.
6. Paul Bennett to contact Greg Johnson (ESD1) to find out about CERT (training).
7. Joe Vandergriff mentioned that if our club continues to grow, we may need to move into more space. Joe mentioned that Rolling Hills Community Church may can provide us more meeting space.
8. Paul Bennett sent invitation to Colin Wright (K5KEX) to visit our club next meeting.

1. Wayne Woodall presented members with our present club call sign-KJ5HDE. Effective date of our call sign is July 9, 2024. Expiration date is July 9, 2034. Wayne did a search for relevant call signs for our club. The following was listed:

After discussion, Robert motioned that we adopt W5LTR as our call sign. Gayle Wald seconded motion. Vote was unanimous. The new call sign we will submit as a vanity license is W5LTR. (Seems to stand for "Lake Travis Radio").
2. The topic of grant money for our club was discussed. Wayne to ask other clubs who and when they ask City of Lago Vista for grants.
3. Discussion of resuming dues was had. Since we are incurring some new debts (license fees, etc.), it was proposed that we resume club dues. Due now would be $12.50. Full dues would be due in January of $25. Robert Powell made the motion we resume club dues as stated above. Gayne Wald seconded motion. Vote was unanimous.
4. Brief discussion for club logo was had. Members were urged to bring in their ideas (again)

1. A discussion was had regarding the need for a club repeater that belongs exclusively to our club. Wayne Woodall stated that he would go ahead and apply for our club FCC license. After license is received, we will apply for our club vanity call sign.
After note: License application was completed by Wayne and signature needed by another club trustee. App sent to Marvin Smith for his signature.
Paul Bennett agreed to research equipment needed with pricing.
It was brought up that since we are a non-profit and engaged in emergency communications, some grant money may be available.
Paul Bennett and Adam Lewis agreed to meet with the Lago Vista Airport Manager to see if there is any available space, power, etc. to locate equipment inside an airport building.
2. Paul Bennett noted that our ARRL club website needs to be updated with his position as
Vice-President.

3. Adam Lewis stated that he wishes to obtain his ham radio license. Our club needs to provide a member that can mentor Adam in this process.

1. Wayne Woodall stated that our new club vanity call sign, W5LTR, has been submitted and we are awaiting confirmation from the FCC.
2. The topic of grant money for our club was again discussed. Wayne mentioned that he has not had opportunity to speak to City of Lago Vista regarding application for city grant money. Marvin Smith mentioned that the ARRL has grant money for clubs. However, deadline is July 26th. Perhaps we can try for next year's grant money.
3. Club dues have been resumed. Since this is half the year, present dues are $12.50.
4. Brief discussion for club logo was had. Members were urged to bring in their ideas (again)
for discussion. Wayne's logo will be submitted again.
5. It was mentioned from Club Secretary that our club may be nearing time for renewing club officers. Wayne to look into our constitution to verify this.
6. Paul Bennett to contact Greg Johnson (ESD1) to find out about CERT (training).
7. Joe Vandergriff mentioned that if our club continues to grow, we may need to move into more space. Joe mentioned that Rolling Hills Community Church may can provide us more meeting space.
8. Paul Bennett sent invitation to Colin Wright (K5KEX) to visit our club next meeting.

Meeting called to order at 8:50 am by Vice President Paul Bennett.
Business:
1. Wayne Woodall presented members with our present club call sign-KJ5HDE. Effective date of our call sign is July 9, 2024. Expiration date is July 9, 2034. Wayne did a search for relevant call signs for our club. The following was listed:
WA5LT W5LTR
After discussion, Robert motioned that we adopt W5LTR as our call sign. Gayle Wald seconded motion. Vote was unanimous. The new call sign we will submit as a vanity license is W5LTR. (Seems to stand for "Lake Travis Radio").
2. The topic of grant money for our club was discussed. Wayne to ask other clubs who and when they ask City of Lago Vista for grants.
3. Discussion of resuming dues was had. Since we are incurring some new debts (license fees, etc.), it was proposed that we resume club dues. Due now would be $12.50. Full dues would be due in January of $25. Robert Powell made the motion we resume club dues as stated above. Gayne Wald seconded motion. Vote was unanimous.

sign. After receipt of call sign, we will apply for a vanity club license number. Wayne to check up on status and determine why this has not been granted.
2. Visit by Paul Bennett and Adam Lewis with the Lago Vista Airport Manager has not been done. Meeting with Greg Johnson (Asst. Deputy EMC) and Donnie Norman (Fire Chief) was done. Adam talked to Donnie Norman, Fire Chief.

Meeting called to order at 8:50 am by President Marvin Smith.
New Business:
1. A discussion was had regarding the need for a club repeater that belongs exclusively to our club. Wayne Woodall stated that he would go ahead and apply for our club FCC license. After license is received, we will apply for our club vanity call sign.
After note: License application was completed by Wayne and signature needed by another club trustee. App sent to Marvin Smith for his signature.
Paul Bennett agreed to research equipment needed with pricing.
It was brought up that since we are a non-profit and engaged in emergency communications, some grant money may be available.
Paul Bennett and Adam Lewis agreed to meet with the Lago Vista Airport Manager to see if there is any available space, power, etc. to locate equipment inside an airport building.
2. Paul Bennett noted that our ARRL club website needs to be updated with his position as
Vice-President.
After Note: This has been done as of April 24, 2024.
3. Adam Lewis stated that he wishes to obtain his ham radio license. Our club needs to provide a member that can mentor Adam in this process.
